THE COACHES

Head Coach: Jordan Hice

 

​Coach Jordan Hice was a graduate from Gilmer High School where he was a 3 year letterman in basketball and a four year letterman in tennis.  After high school he attended Dalton State College and after 2 years transfered to North Georgia College and obtained a degree in Health and Physical Education.  Before taking the head boys basketball coach at Gilmer High School, Jordan was an assistan coach for Gilmer Basketball for 2 years, head Gilmer Middle School basketball coach for 1 year, and head Gilmer Middle School softball coach for 4 years.  He currently has been head boys basketball coach for the past 4 years and is beginning his 5th years with the Bobcats.  Jordan is also an assistant Gilmer Tennis coach and is currently finishing his Masters Degree in Health and Physical Education.

 
Assistant Coach: Al Charles

 

Coach Al Charles graduated from Gilmer High School in 1976, where he was a multiple year letterman in basketball, baseball, and track. He then attended Piedmont College on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1981.  In 1995, he recieved his Master's Degree from Kennesaw State College and in 2007 received his Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.  Coach Charles has taught 8th grade history for the past 27 years. He brings over 20 years of basketball coaching experience to the GHS Basketball Program.  During this time, he has also been very active coaching baseball, football, and softball.  In 2014, he was elected into the Gilmer County SPorts Hall of Fame.

 

Coach Charles and wife Kim have two children, JoeBob and Bailey.  Bailey currently plays basketball at GHS, and JoeBob attends Young Harris College on a basketball full scholarship.  Coach Charles and his family are members of Nine Mile United Methodis Church

Assistant Coach: Brad Jenkins

 

Coach Brad Jenkins is a graduate of Gilmer High School.  After graduation, Coach Jenkins attended Berry College and North Georgia College where he received his Bachelor's Degree in physical education and continued his education by adding on his middle school certification.  Coach Jenkins has served as a member of the Bocat coaching staff for more than ten years, several as a high school assistant under Renny Bryner and several as a middle school head coach and is excited to be a part of Coach Hice's Bobcat Basketball staff.  Brad currently teaches eight grade a Clear Creek Middle School.  He is married to Tracy Jenkins who also teaches in Gilmer County.  They have two children, Ashlyn and Braden, who currently are very active in Gilmer school sports and activities.  The Jenkins family attends First Baptist Church. Coach Jenkins and his family are proud to be Bobcats.
